DAVID STIER

Rob Henke records, works and tours with many New York City bands including Dr. Nerve, Gary Lucas’ Fast and Bulbous, Diane Moser’s Composer’s Big Band, and the Henke/Sturm Duo.  Additionally, he works as an actor, director and playwright.

Mr. Henke, trumpet player and composer, graduated from William Paterson College in 1988.

                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                          He has performed and recorded worldwide with many groups and musicians, including
The Spirit of Life Ensemble (currently serving as musical director), The Walter Thompson Orchestra, Doctor Nerve, Tricycle, The Rob Henke/ Rolf Sturm Duo, Mina Agossi, Gary Lucas, Phillip Johnston, and The Strike Anywhere Theater Company.

Mr. Henke worked as actor and co- director with Good Clean Fun (1990-2005), an educational theater company.

STEVE RICE

Steve Rice is a pianist/ composer/ accordionist new to the Philadelphia area. Steve spent the last 25 years based out of

Seattle, WA where he toured and recorded with a large eclectic mix of jazz and world music groups including the Harry James Orchestra, the Mazeltones (Klezmer), Gary Gibson

(calypso-jazz fusion), Jean Jacques Perrey (electronica) and “Walk All Ways” (third stream). Steve’s musical

personality starts with Bebop, then veers thoughtfully and widely fromthat center. Steve is a graduate of Berklee College of Music where he received a degree in Film Scoring and received the Oscar Peterson award. Steve’s jazz compositions and recordings have been heard in many popular television shows including The Big Bang Theory, The Blacklist, and Sons of Anarchy and films including Storks, Identity Thief, and Passengers.


Drummer Dave Stier has 30 years of experience performing with a wide range of music ensembles. He
studied music at Chapman University near Los Angeles, California where he was taught by noted jazz
drummer and co-founder of the Los Angeles Jazz Quartet, Kevin Tullius. David also studied with jazz
drummer, Tony Denicola, an influential music professor at The College of New Jersey well known  for
working with Harry James, Charlie Ventura, Kenny Davern and many other jazz icons. David has worked
with many area musicians including Darla and Rich Tarpinian, Michelle Wiley and Jeannie Brooks. He
has been both a leader and has had supporting positions in groups ranging from small combos to Big
Bands.
